Dear Owens Valley Families, Friends, Alumni, and Community,
I am thrilled to have been chosen to lead the Owens Valley School District. I have spent the past 27 years preparing for this opportunity, both in my own schooling and my experiences as an educator. I have a BA in Spanish Language and Literature from Cortland College, two Masters degrees from Cal State Dominguez Hills- one in Bilingual, Multicultural Education, and the other in Educational Administration, and a Doctorate in Organizational Change and Leadership from the University of Southern California. My teaching experience includes all grades, K-6, as well as Special Education, in various schools in LAUSD and New York City. In addition, I have taught Teacher Education for LAUSD and have also been an Adult Education teacher.
For the past 17 years, my focus has been on school administration, and I have served in a variety of administrative roles, including Bilingual Coordinator, Assistant Principal, and, most recently, Principal of Mammoth Elementary.
On a personal note, I enjoy reading, cooking, hiking, crafts, snowshoeing, and spending time with my family. My husband, Todd, and I have four children, and have loved the Eastern Sierra and the Owens Valley since the moment we moved here from San Pedro, in 2010. Spending Independence Day in Independence gave me a little taste of the closeness of our wonderful community, and I can’t wait to take part in more activities and continue to learn more about the unique needs of all our stakeholders.
My focus, as your Superintendent/Principal, is to ensure that each one of our students is given the tools and support needed for them to grow and to SHINE academically, personally, and socially. My door is always open, and I welcome your collaboration and input.
Superintendent / Principal
